This is the information sent to visitors: pages, images and files. At 5 MB per visit, that is roughly 200,000 visits; at 2 MB, roughly 500,000. These are simplified examples, not guaranteed visitor limits. Caching, image optimisation and page size all matter.
Hosting & domain, simply explained
Is Vercel Pro Enough for a Local Business Website?
A simple guide to pricing, traffic limits, domains, hosting and what happens if a suitable modern website grows.
The simple version
What Vercel does for your website.
Vercel is a hosting and infrastructure platform that makes a website available online. Think of it as the professional service that publishes your website, keeps it reachable, and delivers it quickly to visitors. It is one recommended option, not a requirement for every Landiqo website.
- Deploying website updates
- Serving pages and images
- HTTPS security
- Global delivery
- Server-side functions
- Scaling for busier periods
It works particularly well with Next.js and other modern web projects. Traditional HTML, JavaScript or PHP websites can use suitable conventional hosting instead.
Professional use
Clear pricing, without pretending growth is free forever.
Vercel Pro is intended for commercial and professional work. It uses a credit-based, usage-aware model: the $20/month paid seat comes with monthly usage credit, and usage-based pricing only becomes relevant when applicable included resources or credit are exceeded.
Most ordinary local-business sites should use only a small fraction of the available resources.
A useful launch benefit
A free domain for the first year.
That can make the first setup easier for a new business without a domain. It is not a permanent free domain: after the first year, it renews at its normal annual renewal price. Already own a domain? It can be connected instead.
Traffic, translated
The limits that matter, in plain English.
A request is not the same as a visitor. 10,000 visitors × 25 requests is about 250,000 requests: around 2.5% of 10 million.
Functions handle things like quote forms, sending emails, saving enquiries and validation. Even 1,000 enquiries with three function calls each is a tiny share of this example allowance.
This does not mean only 5,000 image views. Optimised versions are cached and reused. A builder gallery of 40–100 project images is a very normal use case.
Why most sites stay efficient
Static pages and caching do the heavy lifting.
The website loads from a nearby cached copy. This is ideal for services, galleries, contact details and standard marketing pages.
A small piece of code does a job, such as receiving a quote request. It only uses compute while it is working.
This does not mean a website can only be online for four hours. Static and cached pages can be delivered without dynamic code running. Active CPU means time when code is actually processing a dynamic task.
Illustrative example
A regional landscaping company.
Say the business receives 10,000 visitors a month, transfers 4 MB per visit, has 20 requests per visitor, and gets 500 quote enquiries using three function invocations each.
About 4% of 1 TB
About 2% of 10 million
About 0.15% of 1 million
This is an illustrative example, not a billing guarantee.
If you grow
Growth should not force a rebuild.
Vercel can scale automatically, so going beyond normal traffic does not mean the site must immediately move or be rebuilt. Extra resource use is billed by the resource used, for example additional data transfer, CDN requests, functions or image work.
Pricing and allowances can change, so always check Vercel’s current pricing before purchasing.
Reassurance, not a promise
What stops me getting a huge unexpected bill?
Vercel provides usage monitoring, notifications, budgets and spend controls. Where supported, projects can also be paused or given hard limits when a chosen spend amount is reached.
Landiqo recommends configuring usage alerts and sensible spend controls before the website goes live.
- Review usage regularly
- Set conservative budget notifications
- Configure sensible spend controls
- Keep an owner account in control
At a glance
Vercel Pro and a typical local-business site.
Security basics
Professional protection, sensibly described.
Vercel includes automatic HTTPS/TLS so visitors connect securely. It also provides DDoS mitigation, firewall capabilities and IP blocking tools. These measures improve protection, but no website can honestly be described as impossible to attack.
Where practical, Landiqo recommends that your production Vercel account and domain remain in your ownership, with Landiqo added as a developer or team member when needed. You keep direct billing, control and a simple future handover.
When to look more closely
When Vercel Pro may not be ideal.
Normal local-business sites are usually a great fit. Usage needs more consideration for:
- Very large file downloads
- Self-hosted high-resolution video
- Hundreds of thousands or millions of visitors
- Server-heavy SaaS applications
- Very high API use
- User-generated image or video platforms
- Badly optimised code or runaway functions
Common questions
Vercel Pro FAQ.
Do I have to use Vercel?
No. Vercel is an excellent option for many modern projects, particularly Next.js websites, but hosting is recommended around the technology and requirements of each website.
How much does Vercel Pro cost?
Currently $20/month for a paid Owner or Member seat, subject to Vercel's current pricing and team configuration.
Is the domain really free?
Eligible Pro teams can currently receive a domain free for the first year. Normal renewal pricing applies after that first year.
Can I use my existing domain?
Yes. An existing domain can be connected to Vercel, whether it is with Namecheap, GoDaddy, Cloudflare or another registrar.
Will I get charged every time someone visits?
No. Vercel includes substantial usage allowances or credits. Additional charges become relevant only when applicable included usage is exceeded.
What if my website becomes very popular?
Vercel is designed to scale. A growing site does not automatically need rebuilding or moving; extra resource usage can be billed as it grows.
Do I need to buy SSL separately?
No. HTTPS/TLS is handled by Vercel.
Is Vercel Pro enough for a plumber, roofer or landscaper?
For a normally built local-business marketing website, generally yes, comfortably.
Could I ever pay more than $20/month?
Yes. Extra usage, additional paid seats, or paid services can create charges. Usage alerts and sensible spend controls should be configured before launch.
Still want a human answer?
Hosting should feel like a sensible part of launching a website, not a technical obstacle. Landiqo can help you choose the right setup and connect a domain you already own.
